Northwestern University’s Human Olfaction Lab is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join their research team. The lab studies systems neuroscience, including the human olfactory system, cognition and respiration. The lab uses a wide range of human neuroscience methods, including functional neuroimaging, diffusion tensor imaging, intracranial EEG, electrical stimulation, and a new intranasal recording method that we recently developed that allows for high-precision electrophysiological recordings from the human olfactory bulb in healthy volunteers, and fast-scan-cyclic voltammetry based electrochemistry recordings from the olfactory epithelium. The lab is conducting experiments in healthy normosmic individuals, and also in disease populations including Anosmia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s and epilepsy. We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated postdoc for this position. Principal Accountabilities 1. To conduct and analyze data from experiments on olfaction, respiration, cognition and or disease. 2. To develop new ideas, research methodologies, and analytic approaches to our lab’s research programs. 3. To help write grants and compete for funding. 4. To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research in the lab. Minimum Qualifications/Competencies: * Interest in research on olfaction and/or respiration and/or how these systems are affected in disease. * Computational skills (machine learning, RSA, pattern analysis, k-means clustering, modeling, etc) in analyzing neural data, preferably across a range of techniques including electrophysiology and neuroimaging. * Evidence of first-author peer-reviewed publications. * Excellent communication and writing skills Preferred Qualifications/Competencies: * Experience in human neuroscience research. * Experience in research and clinical training related to neurological conditions are preferred, but not a necessity. * Skillsets on computational, AI (broadly defined), and data science analytic approaches are an advantage. Description of position: We are seeking a Data Aide 2 to join the laboratory of Dr. Supekar and support data organization, database management, and neuroimaging data preparation across multiple NIH-funded projects at the intersection of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and precision psychiatry. The Supekar lab integrates neuroscience and artificial intelligence (AI) to advance understanding of brain function and the mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders. Through rigorous research and clinically oriented translation, we develop evidence-based innovations to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for individuals affected by mental illness. The Data Aide will work closely with and under the direct oversight of Dr. Supekar on supporting the organization, management, and preparation of large-scale neuroimaging, clinical, cognitive, and molecular datasets focused on autism and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. This is a full-time, in-person, computationally oriented role centered on data organization, database management, and neuroimaging data preparation. CSNG is an international, interdisciplinary research group that explores the intricacies of the visual system, sensory coding, and neuro-prosthetic solutions. To do this, we use a range of computational approaches spanning large-scale biologically detailed spiking network models, firing-rate models of development, and modern machine learning techniques. We are a diverse team of computer scientists, physicists, mathematicians, and engineers dedicated to understanding visual perception and its restoration via neuro-prosthetic devices. Multiple project topics are available (the exact topic can be adjusted to the interest and background of the applicant): - Modeling electrical stimulation in a spiking model of the primary visual cortex. One example is when you decide where to have lunch: should you go to the nearby coffee shop or to the university cafeteria? Learning depends on choice, because you can learn which option you prefer by trying each option repeatedly, and decision making depends on learning, because you eventually want to select the option you have learned you like best. Uncertainty plays a key role in both learning1–4 and decision making5, especially when the environment is not stationary (e.g., a new brand now runs the nearby coffee shop and you like it less). In the ANR/CEA-funded BrainSync collaborative project, we are interested in characterizing the neural representations of uncertainty6–8 and value that emerge from learning and guide decisions. Our approach combines deep phenotyping approach and multimodal imaging in the EXPLORE task5. We collected data from 16 participants who participated in one behavioral session, two 7T fMRI sessions, and two MEG sessions. 56 other participants participated in one pupillometry session and one 3T fMRI session. We also plan to record a dataset on our 11.7T MRI, and we have started to collect intracranial EEG data. This large multimodal dataset allows us to estimate and test different computational models of the decision and learning processes. One postdoc is currently working on the MEG and iEEG data, and one PhD student is working on the behavioral and 11.7T data (to be collected). We are looking for another postdoc for the already collected fMRI datasets. The postdocs and PhD student will work together to perform analyses informed by all datasets. *Profile* Ph.D. in neuroscience, machine learning or psychology, with strong programming skills, ideally in Python. Previous experience with ideally fMRI, computational modeling. You will be responsible for analyzing fMRI data and disseminating results in internal seminars, international conferences and journal articles. The working language of the lab is English. We are interested in questions such as whether functionally distinct areas show common or distinct initial activity patterns, and how these patterns relate to subsequent function. This project is based on data from the dunnart (an Australian marsupial), an animal model which offers unique advantages over rodents for studying early activity since dunnarts are born at a much earlier stage of brain development. Our initial work on this project is described in https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2208654120. We are now using 2-photon imaging of soma-targeted GCaMP8m which offers data with much higher resolution and detail. The postdoc/student will work between the Goodhill and Richards labs, which are both located in a new 60,000 m^2 building dedicated entirely to neuroscience research which opened in 2023. However, our ability to monitor the microcircuitry in living humans is limited, meriting the use of detailed computational simulations to overcome experimental limitations in linking the microcircuit mechanisms with altered cortical activity, functional deficits and biomarkers in clinically-relevant brain signals. This workshop will showcase the latest efforts from leading groups in large-scale neuronal microcircuit modeling of spiking activity and signals such as EEG and MEG. The workshop will present diverse data-driven microcircuit modeling approaches that integrate neuronal, synaptic and functional data, and the different simulation tools used to generate activity and brain signals from the models. The workshop will highlight clinical applications of the models in establishing target mechanisms for treatment, and estimating microcircuit mechanisms from clinical signals in patient data with machine learning to improve diagnosis. Postdoc position in the Unit on the Neural Computations in Learning, NIMH

We have an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to join my lab in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Mental Health at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. Research in the lab is focused on the computational neuroscience of reward prediction and learning. Broadly, we study how timing, inference processes and goal selection modulate learning in reward-guided tasks in animals and humans, and how these processes are supported by neural activity in the reward learning circuits of the brain. Our goal is to understand how reward learning is altered in compulsive behaviors, addiction, and motivational deficits in disorders of mental health. We are looking for a postdoc who will use approaches from dynamical systems theory, reinforcement learning and Bayesian inference to understand how goal-directed behaviors and learning are regulated in neural circuits. The ideal candidate thinks about reward prediction and learning as dynamic processes unfolding in time and across experience, is fluent in both the theoretical and empirical approaches used in systems, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, and aims to link normative models of behavior to the dynamics of neural populations in the reward learning circuits of the brain. We are a computational group that works with a broad network of collaborating labs spanning rodent, NHP and human studies, and would suit a computational neuroscientist excited to work at the intersection of theory and experiment in an interdisciplinary research environment. Re: vision: a community-driven replication initiative for image-related neuroscience

Dear colleagues, We are excited to announce re:vision, a community-driven initiative for replicating and generalizing findings in image-related neuroscience and we'd love for you to take part. Condition-rich fMRI datasets have transformed how we study visual representations, but they rest on two assumptions: that their stimuli sample natural images broadly, and that findings generalize across that distribution. These assumptions are rarely tested directly. re:vision sets out to change that. The initiative is built on the new LAION-fMRI dataset: densely-sampled 7T fMRI responses to 25,000+ natural images, designed to cover the space of natural images at exceptional scale and diversity. Participants pick a published finding, replicate it using LAION-fMRI, and test whether it holds and generalizes. No new data collection is required, all data, preprocessed betas, and annotations are provided through our Python package. The format of the workshop is intended to encourage extensive discussion among participants. To this end, we have scheduled only a small number of invited speakers, and there are no concurrent talks. In addition to the individual seminars, there will be a poster session for students, postdocs and other researchers to present their work. *Abstract submission for posters closes on July 30, 2026*. [jobs] Postdoc position in Surrey (UK): Research Fellow in Clinical Neuroscience, Sleep and Dementia

The postholder will contribute to an exciting international, multi‑centre research programme<https://www.asapcrn.org/research-community/teams/sharott> investigating the neural mechanisms underlying sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances in Parkinson’s disease. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in Surrey and Oxford, and with collaborators across the ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN), an international, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional network working to address high-priority research questions about Parkinson's disease, supported by ASAP, in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). The role We are seeking an outstanding Research Fellow to help spearhead research to understand the relationship between EEG-defined oscillations during sleep and excessive sleepiness during the daytime in people living with Parkinson's and to develop and implement neuromodulation approaches to alleviate daytime sleepiness. The project is funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson's and the William J. Fox Foundation, and will be conducted at the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey. The research is part of a collaborative effort between researchers at the Universities of Surrey, Oxford, Harvard and Zurich. The successful applicant will, together with other researchers and clinical staff members, be responsible for conducting the clinical research protocol, analyses of EEG and behavioural data, delivering neuromodulation interventions, and preparing publications. Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in Neuroscience or related subject area, have experience in clinical neuroscience research and have excellent data analysis and programming skills. The successful applicant will be an active member of the Surrey Sleep Research Centre, and is expected to collaborate closely with researchers at Oxford, Harvard and Zurich. About you Crucial skills include EEG analysis and programming. Desirable skills are prior experience of working with human participants patients, particularly those with Parkinson's, dementia, or other cognitive disorders, experience in assessing cognitive function using standardised and experimental tasks, conducting non-invasive brain stimulation and/or EEG recording procedures. However, the role involves substantial training to bring the research fellow to the highest level of competence in those research approaches. Submit your abstract by July 10th! We look forward to a great programme with invited and contributed talks on Computational, Theoretical, and Systems Neuroscience, led by keynotes from Máté Lengyel, Sandro Romani, and Fanny Cazettes.
