The Institute for Neural Computation of the Faculty of Computer Science is looking for a Postdoc (m,f,x) for 2 years, full-time, TVL E13 The Institute for Neural Computation is part of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Ruhr-University Bochum, see https://www.ini.rub.de/. It focuses on the dynamics and learning of perception and behavior on a functional level but is otherwise very diverse, ranging from neurophysiology and psychophysics over computational neuroscience to machine learning and technical applications. Postdoc positions in nanoscale modeling of astrocytes, neurons or synapses

The Computational Neuroscience unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (https://www.oist.jp) Japan has been spearheading nanoscale stochastic modeling of astrocytes, neurons and synapses (https://groups.oist.jp/cnu) We have two postdoctoral positions open and Japan is issuing visa for such positions. The selected candidates will build on previous work in modeling of cerebellar or hippocampal astrocytes, neurons and synapses using our STEPS software (http://steps.sourceforge.net) research project depending on experience and interests of the candidate. Previous experience in neural modeling required, preferentially as subject of PhD. Competences: A recent PhD in a relevant discipline such as neuroscience, molecular biology, biophysics or biochemistry. Experience in programming in Python. Fluent English conversation and writing skills. Benefits / Offer: A competitive salary and relocation package are offered. Call for Visiting Scholars in Theoretical Sciences at OIST (Application by September 30)

We are pleased to call for Visiting Scholars in Theoretical Sciences at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, including a new Thematic Program with a symposium. We strongly encourages applications from women and other underrepresented groups. 1) First Call for Thematic Program Pre-Proposals https://groups.oist.jp/tsvp/proposal-thematic-programs We are excited to launch Thematic Activity as new part of the TSVP, with an open call for pre-proposals. Thematic Programs (TPs) are expected to be held at OIST for 2 weeks to 3 months, starting in the second half of 2023. TPs will be hosted by a group of two or more researchers (coordinators) who will be invited to stay at OIST for the duration of the TP. Successful proposals will be provided with the financial and administrative support needed to bring participants to OIST, 4-8 of whom are expected to be present at any one time. Where it fits the goals and timeframe of the program, a symposium linked to the program can be hosted at OIST. While the scope of the Thematic Program should be theoretical, a diverse base of participants is encouraged, which may include experimental scientists. 2) Open Call for Visiting Scholars FY2023 https://groups.oist.jp/tsvp/application-visiting-scholars Visiting Scholars have been arriving through the TSVP since March 2022, and now we are starting the call for FY2023 (April 2023-March 2024).
