*NeuroBridges 2024* *A Mediterranean, Middle Eastern Summer School in Neuroscience* *Deadline to apply: April 1st, 2024* *NeuroBridges 2024* is a summer school which will take place between *September 15 and September 26, 2024* in Le Centre de Conferences Internationales de Cluny, France (CCIC) <https://streaklinks.com/B3KCp_jAQOMpwC7dQwRSV3xc/https%3A%2F%2Fcollegecluny…>. The school will provide an overview of theoretical and experimental frameworks used to study a variety of *decision making* processes. It will cover different model systems from rodents to humans and a plethora of decision making mechanisms. Another objective of Neurobridges is to bring together *Mediterranean and Middle Eastern scientists*, in order to promote scientific cooperation between young researchers from these countries. The organizers of NeuroBridges are convinced that such scientific collaborations can lead to personal relations, which eventually may alleviate the political distress in the Middle East. NeuroML announcements: upcoming HARMONY hackathon in London and Google Summer of Code projects

We would like to announce 2 upcoming initiatives related to the NeuroML project: a hackathon in London at UCL where you can learn about the model description language and get help converting your model to this standardised format, and 3 Google Summer of Code projects where students or postdocs can be paid for contributing to the NeuroML model development infrastructure. ---- The COMBINE organisation's HARMONY meeting is being held at University College London from April 8-11 this year. Systems Vision Science Virtual Summer School & Symposium: June 19th – July 12th, 2024 -------------------------------- Applications are invited for a <https://summerschool.lizhaoping.org/virtual-systems-vision-science-summer-s…> virtual edition of <https://summerschool.lizhaoping.org/> the Systems Vision Science Summer School and Symposium that took place in Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tuebingen, Germany in August 2023. This year, the virtual edition enables students to attend from afar by formal lectures via Zoom and informal and social communications via a Slack channel. Systems Vision Science combines computational, behavioral, and neuroscience methods to discover functions and algorithms for vision in various brain regions and their implementations in neural circuits. This summer school is designed for everyone interested in gaining a systems level understanding of biological vision. We plan a coherent, graduate-level, syllabus on the integration of experimental data with theory and models. The syllabus content will be very similar to the edition in 2023, the learning format, the delivery, and social interactions will be adjusted to suit the virtual format. Experience or knowledge in (A) computational methods, (B) visual psychophysics, and (C) vision neuroscience, is not required. However, experience in at least one of (A), (B), and (C), and a readiness to learn, is expected. The Summer School will be followed by a Systems Vision Science Virtual Symposium on July 12th. All admitted summer school students will be invited to attend this symposium and are encouraged to submit for a presentation at the symposium. The symposium will also feature two invited keynote presentations. Multiple postdoctoral positions in computational neuroscience (neural coding), Hamburg, Germany

I am opening three fully funded postdoctoral positions in computational neuroscience at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) in Hamburg, Germany. We investigate how networks of neurons in the cerebral cortex encode, process and transmit information to generate behaviors such as sensation and decision-making. To address these issues, we develop and use information-theoretic and machine learning methods to study population coding, as well as neural network models to individuate mechanisms for neural information processing and generation of functions. Our laboratory enjoys extensive long-term international collaborations with experimental laboratories, including with Chris Harvey at Harvard Medical School, Wei- Lee at Boston Children’s Hospital, Tommaso Fellin and Alessandro Gozzi at IIT, Mriganka Sur at MIT, as well as collaborations with experimental laboratories in Hamburg (Andreas Engel, Tobias Donner, Ileana Hanganu-Opatz). The laboratory also offers a thriving, ambitious and well-funded research environment (with funds from the NIH Brain Initiative, the Simons Foundation, the European Union, the ERC). The lab provides ample opportunities for advanced training and for personal scientific growth. We seek candidates holding a PhD in a numerate or neuroscientific discipline, with a solid computational background and a keen interest in neuroscience. They must be highly motivated and creative individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment and be happy to interact with both experimental and theoretical neuroscientists. NeuroDataReHack data reuse workshop and Open Neurodata Showcase

NeuroDataReHack 2024 July 8-12, 2024 Janelia Research Campus, Ashburn, Virginia, USA The goal of NeuroDataReHack is to train participants to generate new insights from existing neurophysiology data through secondary analysis. The DANDI Archive <http://dandiarchive.org/> now has 200+ neurophysiology datasets in the Neurodata Without Borders <http://nwb.org/> format spanning many species, brain areas, task types, and imaging modalities. These include large-scale datasets from the Allen Institute, the MICrONS project, and the International Brain Laboratory, as well as diverse contributions from neuroscience labs around the world. NeuroDataReHack will teach attendees how to maximally utilize the data and computational resources of the DANDI Archive to incorporate existing data into their scientific workflows. Post-Doctoral Research Associate Neuron Modeling for Transcranial Electric and Magnetic Stimulation

We have an NIH-funded R01 project to develop and disseminate computational neuron models and their integration with TES and TMS electric field simulations in the popular SimNIBS software package. This project is a collaboration between Dr. Warren Grill and Dr. Angel Peterchev at Duke University and Dr. Axel Thielscher at the Danish Research Center for Magnetic Resonance and Technical University of Denmark. This position is dedicated to advancing our understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder through the evaluation of new biomarkers in neuroimaging data. The School of Data Science, founded in 2019 and the first of its kind in the nation, offers a unique multidisciplinary environment, where candidates can expand their professional network through collaborations with various departments and institutes across UVA, such as Psychology and the Brain Institute. The role will primarily involve software engineering/programming the Hypatia site, retaining a core knowledge of computational modelling as it relates to health care, neuroscience, and psychology, and liaising with project consultants to develop the UX/UI, backend support, and aesthetics of the platform. There is significant opportunity for skill development, including gaining experience of industry liaison, translational neuroscience, and computational modelling expertise. 2 postdoc and 3 PhD positions available at Sussex

Positions available! Do you have a strong background in cognitive and computational neuroscience and a desire to contribute to the cutting edge of consciousness research? Two postdoctoral research positions and three PhD positions are now available at the Sussex Centre for Consciousness Science (SCCS; https://www.sussex.ac.uk/research/ccs/) The SCCS is a University of Sussex Centre of Excellence and an internationally prominent group in consciousness science. The positions are supported by an ERC Advanced Investigator Grant (project CONSCIOUS; 2 postdocs and 2 PhDs) and by the SCCS, via the School of Informatics and Engineering (1 PhD). The postdoc positions funded for 2 years with possible extension for another 2, starting as soon as suitable candidates are identified. The PhD positions are fully funded (for both UK and overseas candidates) for 3.5 years, starting in September 2024 (earlier start may be negotiable). The ERC positions are all within the broad remit of computational (neuro)phenomenology, exploring different applications of a predictive processing view of conscious perception.
