Dear all We would like to announce a special issue for the journal IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems. The general topic revolves around perceptual optimization processes related to attentional and predictive mechanisms. We are interested on work coming from a wide range of areas including robotics, psychology, philosophy and neuroscience. The second Canadian Computational Neuroscience Spotlight (a free, virtual meeting) is under a week away

The second Canadian Computational Neuroscience Spotlight is now less than a week away, beginning this coming Monday, May 17 via the Crowdcast online platform. The finalized program for the meeting can be found at https://ccnsmeeting.ca/#04-ccns-2021-program. It includes 18 renowned computational neuroscientists, including keynote speakers Drs. Yulia Dembitskaya, Michael London, Andre Longtin and Richard Betzel. Additionally, we have 30 trainees who will be giving short "trainee talks" at the meeting. Finally, we will host a panel discussion each day (12 pm EDT on Monday, 1 pm EDT on Tuesday) consisting of computational neuroscientists at various stages of their careers which should yield fascinating conversation. 2nd Workshop on Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation 2021

Dear colleagues, We want to invite you to join the 2nd Workshop on Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation (NIBS) 2021! The meeting will be held *online on June 3-4*. The registration and abstract submission *deadline is the 23rd of Ma*y ( https://NIBS-Workshop.umn.edu) Non-invasive tools capable of selectively manipulating neural systems in the human brain are needed to advance our neuroscientific understanding of brain function and develop novel therapeutic strategies. The workshop includes lectures and hands-on sessions. Transcranial magnetic stimulation ( *TMS*), transcranial direct current stimulation (*tDCS*), and transcranial alternating current stimulation (*tACS*) modulate neural activity by inducing electric fields in the brain. Increasingly, these approaches are combined with computational head modeling and imaging methods such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) or electroencephalography (EEG). Over two days, attendees will hear about state-of-the-art modeling methods in non-invasive brain stimulation, their combination with imaging methods, and practical applications in clinical science. Owing to the Coronavirus outbreak, the 7th edition will take place in a virtual format, via Zoom, from the 28th of June to the 1st of July 2021, between 15:00 and 18:00 (GMT+2). ICMNS is an interdisciplinary conference series, bringing together theoretical neuroscientists and mathematicians. Excellence PhD opening on integration of astrocytes in the Virtual Brain (Aix-Marseille University)

We are offering one excellence PhD fellowship (3 years) at Aix-Marseille University within the labs of Christophe Bernard (experimental neuroscience) and Viktor Jirsa (theoretical neuroscience) at Institute of Systems Neuroscience - INS, Marseille. The project has the following objectives: A) Incorporating neuron-glia-blood vessel coupling in the generative models used in The Virtual Brain. B) Constant interplay with partners to improve the model (see below). C) Generating testable predictions to be tested experimentally in the same lab (see below). This project is part of the EU high-level training-by-research consortium “Astrotech" (http://www.astrotechproject.eu/ <https://research.ncl.ac.uk/in2pb/>), federating world-leading european groups working in the development of new technologies to explore astrocyte function in the brain.
