The International Conference on Brain Informatics series (BI) has
established itself as the world's premier research forum that brings
together researchers and practitioners from
neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, data science, artificial
intelligence, information communication technologies, and neuroimaging
technologies with the purpose of exploring the fundamental roles,
interactions as well as practical impacts of Brain Informatics.
The 13th International Conference on Brain Informatics (BI2020) will
provide a broad forum that academia, professionals and industry people can
exchange their ideas, findings, and strategies in brain informatics
research and brain-inspired concepts and technologies. It welcomes emerging
technologies for addressing fundamental neurobiological questions about
healthy brain function, laying the groundwork for advancing treatments for
brain disorders or injury, and for generating brain-inspired "smart"
artificial intelligence and computing technologies to meet future societal
needs. It will educate and expand the brain informatics workforce and create
new career opportunities for brain research and related innovations.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use Springer LNCS/LNAI manuscript

in PDF and DOC/RTF format in the Springer LNCS/LNAI style and should be

We hope that this message finds you healthy and that you and your

Since many countries are still under heavy pressure from COVID-19
together with the fact the Southern Hemisphere is just entering winter,
we have decided to reschedule the conference to the 28th to the 30th of
October. The conference will be hybrid, hosting both onsite and online
participants. Online participants will have a reduced fee.

The IEEE International Conference on Development and Learning (ICDL),
previously referred to as ICDL-EpiRob, is the premier gathering of
professionals dedicated to the advancement of cognitive and
developmental learning. As such, ICDL is a unique conference gathering
researchers from computer science, robotics, psychology and
developmental studies.
ICDL is a highly selective annual international conference that aims to
showcase and share the very best interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary
research on how humans and animals develop sensing, reasoning and actions.
ICDL community focusses on the understanding of how biological agents
take advantage of interaction with social and physical environments to
develop their cognitive capabilities. Moreover, how this knowledge can
be used to improve future computing and robotic systems.
We invite submissions for the conference to explore, extend, and
consolidate the interdisciplinary boundaries of this exciting research
field.

oral or poster presentation based on the reviews. Accepted and presented
regular six-page paper submissions will be included in the conference
proceedings published by IEEE Xplore after the conference.

Post-doctoral position in software engineering and computational neuroscience at Brown University

Post-doctoral position in software engineering and computational neuroscience at Brown University
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in software engineering and computational neuroscience in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Jones at Brown University. Our group combines human electrophysiological recording, computational neural modeling, and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques to study the mechanisms and meaning of brain dynamics in health and disease. We developed a new neural modeling software tool designed for researchers and clinicians to develop and test predictions on the cell and circuit level origin of human electro- and magneto-encephalography (E/MEG) data. This open-source tool is called Human Neocortical Neurosolver (HNN) and is distributed at https://hnn/brown.edu (Neymotin et al eLife 2020). The hired candidate will help expand HNN’s capabilities, including software development using best-practices in open-source design and community support. The candidate will also work directly with researchers to apply HNN to specific neuroscience questions. Duties will include development of tutorials, online resources, and participation in workshops aimed at training the community in the use and applicability of HNN. The candidate will work with a diverse team of researchers at Brown, Mass General Hospital, and Yale University involved in HNN development.
Candidates should have a PhD in computer science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and/or related field. Strong Python programming skills are required, and experience with neural modeling, particularly NEURON, is preferred. Software developers without a PhD may also be considered. Familiarity with E/MEG analysis methods and/or non-invasive brain stimulation is also beneficial. Candidates should be able to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and fun work environment.

Young post-doc position at IMSE, Spain

The "Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla" (IMSE) in Spain has an
opening for a 3-year young post-doc position to join the Neuromorphic
Group at IMSE (www.imse-cnm.csic.es/neuromorphs) financed by the
Andalusian Regional Government. Gross annual salary is 30k€, which
allows for a wealthy life in Sevilla.
Requirements:
- Official PhD graduation date must be after May 27th 2015, although
earlier dates are possible in case of leaves due to pregnancies, child
birth, adoption, major accident or disease.
- One special requirement is that candidates must present an official
certificate from the Public Employment Service of their country showing
they are either unemployed or demanding a better position.
- Deadline for candidacy submission is June 17th, although prospective
candidates should contact us at bernabe(a)imse-cnm.csic much earlier to
prepare the proposal.
The IMSE Neuromorphic Group develops research in Silicon chips and FPGAs
for neuromorphic hardware with stronger focus on vision applications. We
have developed several DVS (Dynamic Vision Sensor) cameras as well as
cortical processing systems and spiking based learning techniques. In
the last years we have strongly engaged into exploiting memristors for
neuromorphic hardware and have designed full monolithic CMOS-memristive
neuromorphic systems. We welcome both, candidates with more hardware
profile (either analog or digital) as well as with more computing
profile. The successful candidate can participate in any of the active
research projects in the group, can also develop alternative research
lines within the neuromorphic field, participate in grant proposals, and
advice PhD and MSc students.

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to
join a team of excellent academics in Keele Universitys Faculty of Natural
Sciences. The Faculty is responsible for research and teaching in many areas
of computer science, mathematics, and the physical and biological sciences.
Applications are welcome from enthusiastic individuals committed to high
quality research and teaching in any relevant field of Mathematical or
Statistical Data Science (e.g. statistics, mathematical artificial
intelligence, mathematical machine learning, statistical data science,
computational data science but not restricted to these particular fields,
although the preference is a field in Pure Mathematics), and who have
interests that complement our existing research strengths while broadening
the scope of our research and teaching expertise.
The lectureship post is part of continued growth and expansion of Data
Science and Mathematics at Keele, which presents many new opportunities for
the development of synergies in both teaching and research. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop an active research programme that both
complements and extends our existing profile in Data Science, Mathematics
and Statistics. Candidates are also expected to develop research
collaborations with colleagues at Keele and elsewhere in strategic research
areas of the University, such as smart energy, big data, global health or

The successful candidate will have a PhD in an appropriate area of
Mathematical, Statistical or Computer Science (or be very close to
completion of their PhD) and will have a strong commitment to delivering
high quality undergraduate and postgraduate research and teaching, including
supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and the
development and delivery of new modules. The post-holder will have the
skills, enthusiasm and flexibility for teaching across a wide range of Data
Science, Mathematics and Statistics topics and will also contribute to
recruitment activities and administrative duties within our Data Science
programmes.

The Canadian Computational Neuroscience Spotlight to take place virtually on June 15 and 16

We are happy to announce the upcoming Canadian Computational Neuroscience Spotlight (CCNS) will take place virtually on June 15 and 16. This free meeting will be hosted using the Crowdcast platform, which has been successfully used for numerous virtual conferences over the past weeks and has a multitude of tools to facilitate the interactivity we often associate with traditional conferences. The keynote speakers for this event are Dr. Nancy Kopell (Boston University), Dr. Dimitris Pinotsis (City-University of London), Dr. Cameron McIntyre (Case Western University), and Dr. Philip Corlett (Yale University). Our primary goal is for this to be a “trainee focused” meeting, considering it is likely this “next generation” of computational neuroscientists who may be most affected by the recent cancellation and postponement of many traditional physical conferences. Our themed sessions will begin with a “tutorial” talk, providing an introduction to an important topic or tool to be discussed in the session, in order to make the meeting more accessible to trainees at any level. We also will be hosting a panel “Q&A” session each day where trainees will be invited to ask questions of the organizers and speakers about the day’s presentations as well as more general topics.
We note that while the meeting has been deemed a “Canadian” spotlight, it is intended for a global audience and includes a similarly global range of speakers. The Canadian focus was developed given that specific conferences in our country scheduled for this summer have been cancelled or postponed, as well as the desire for us to advertise the growing computational neuroscience community across Canada.

In the spirit of the doctoral School on Bioengineering and Robotics the PhD Program for the curriculum "Cognitive Robotics, Interaction and Rehabilitation Technologies" provides interdisciplinary training at the interface between technology and life-sciences. The general objective of the program is to form scientists and research technologists capable of working in multidisciplinary teams on projects where human factors play a crucial role in technological development and design.

All IIT units involved in this curriculum are located in the "Erzelli" site of the Italian Institute of Technology and share research facilities including, besides two iCub humanoid Robots, a fully equipped motion capture room with simultaneous electromyography recording and force-platforms, a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Lab, an Electrophysiology Lab for EEG recording and meeting rooms.
The ideal candidates are students with a higher level university degree willing to invest extra time and effort in blending into a multidisciplinary team composed of neuroscientists, engineers, psychologists, physicists working together to investigate brain functions and realize intelligent machines, rehabilitation protocols and advanced prosthesis.
