A Brainwide Map of mouse brain neural activity during decision-making was released by the International Brain Laboratory ( https://internationalbrainlab.org) and we want you to use it to test your own hypotheses! At the Society for Neuroscience meeting this year, we will host a workshop for anyone interested in learning to use the data. During this tutorial we will teach you to search and download datasets, do basic analyses, and give tips for more advanced computation. We will also demonstrate how to upload your analysis results to our visualization website. Bring your laptop to work along with the demonstration. Participation is free, but registration is required. postdoc at SISSA: How come my tongue got stuck?

New research in our limbo group (Ryom and Treves, Phys Rev X Life, 2023, and unpublished) and extensive data on language parameters collected by Longobardi and collaborators (Ceolin et al, Phil Trans Roy Soc B, 2021) suggest that language diversity may reflect the disordered freezing dynamics that in a spin glass leads to a multiplicity of ground states. In a simplified model, vectors of binary syntactic parameters interact via strong asymmetric logical implications and weak partly symmetric influences, which can produce critical slowing down through a novel mechanism of percolated freezing. A postdoc position is available at SISSA, in Trieste, to carry this project further into uncharted territory, see https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.03152. Postdoc position in sleep modeling/analysis

POSTDOC POSITION IN MODELING/ANALYSIS FOR UNDERSTANDING SLEEP OVERVIEW. An NIH-funded collaboration between David Prober (Caltech), Thai Truong (USC) and Geoff Goodhill (Washington University in St Louis) aims to gain new insight into the neural circuits underlying sleep, through a combination of whole-brain neural recordings in zebrafish and theoretical/computational modeling. A postdoc position is available in the Goodhill lab to contribute to the modeling and computational analysis components. PROJECT DETAILS. Using novel 2-photon imaging technologies Prober and Truong are recording from the entire larval zebrafish brain at single-neuron resolution continuously for long periods of time, examining neural circuit activity during normal day-night cycles and in response to genetic and pharmacological perturbations. The Goodhill lab is analyzing the resulting huge datasets using a variety of sophisticated computational approaches, and using these results to build new theoretical models that reveal how neural circuits interact to govern sleep. APPLICANT PROFILE. Applicants should have a strong background in mathematics/theory/computation applied to biological problems. Experience in analyzing sleep processes is desirable but not required. LAB ENVIRONMENT. The Goodhill lab is an interdisciplinary environment of students and postdocs from a diverse array of backgrounds including neuroscience, mathematics, physics and engineering, working together on understanding neural circuit computation, particularly relating to neural development. Announcing the Rich Lab at the University of Connecticut: Open graduate and postdoc positions

Dear Comp-Neuro listserv, I'm excited to announce that the Rich Lab will be established in the University of Connecticut's Department of Physiology and Neurobiology in January 2024. The lab will use diverse tools from computational neuroscience to study how neuronal diversity drives physiologically relevant brain function in neuronal circuits, and how disruptions to this diversity might contribute to various neuropathologies.
