researchers using computational and theoretical approaches in neuroscience.
We are interested in exceptional PhD candidates with strong quantitative

The Department of Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems (PI Prof. Li Zhaoping) at
the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and at the University of
Tübingen is currently looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals
to work on projects aimed towards understanding visual attentional and
perceptual processes using fMRI/MRI, TMS, EEG/MEG, and other relevant

The projects can involve, for example, visual search tasks, stereo vision
tasks, visual illusions, and will be discussed during the application
process. fMRI/MRI, TMS and/or EEG/MEG, methodologies can be used in
combination with eye tracking, and other related methods as necessary. The
postdoc will be working closely with the principal investigator and other
members of Zhaoping's team when needed.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct and participate in research projects such as lab and
equipment set up, data collection, data analysis, writing reports and
papers, and presenting at scientific conferences
* Participate in routine laboratory operations, such as planning and
preparations for experiments, lab maintenance and lab procedures
* Coordinate with the PI and other team members for strategies and
project planning
* Coordinate with the PI and other team members for project
planning, and in supervision of student projects or teaching assistance for
university courses in our field
Requirements:
* Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, physics or a
related natural science or engineering field
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals
* Highly skilled in techniques of human visual psychophysics such as
MATLAB programming for experiments, experimental data taking, data analysis,
and paper writing
* Familiarity with hardware and techniques in eye tracking,
fMRI/MRI, EEG, MEG, TMS, tDCS/tACS, and other related techniques such as in
carrying out fMRI experiments is highly desirable
* Experience in project management is highly desired
* Strong command of English; knowledge of German is a plus

Data Science full-time clinical faculty hold renewable term contracts,

Qualifications

The Center for Data Science (CDS) is the focal point for New York
University’s university-wide efforts in Data Science. The Center was
established in 2013 to advance NYU’s goal of creating a world-leading Data
Science training and research facility, and arming researchers and
professionals with the tools to harness the power of Big Data. Today, CDS
counts 20 jointly appointed interdisciplinary faculty housed on three
floors of our modern 60 5th Avenue building, one of New York City’s
historic properties. It is home to a top-ranked MS in Data Science program,
one of the first PhD programs in Data Science, and a new undergraduate
program in Data Science, as well as a lively Fellow and Postdoctoral
program. It has over 60 associate and affiliate faculty from 25 departments
in 9 schools and units. With cross-disciplinary research and innovative
educational programs, CDS is shaping the fields of Data Science and
Machine Learning.
The CDS Faculty Fellow will be expected to work at the boundaries between
the data-science methods and domain sciences. They are also encouraged to
develop collaborations with faculty at CDS and NYU. They will lead original
research projects of their choosing with impact in one or more scientific
domains and in one or more methodological domains (computer science,
statistics, and applied mathematics).
We seek outstanding interdisciplinary researchers with expertise in the
methods of data science possibly with application in physical, life, or
social science. The program recognizes that rapid advances in our ability
to acquire and generate data are transforming all fields of discovery from
data-poor to data-rich. A significant bottleneck to discovery is our
ability to perform inference over heterogeneous, noisy, and often massive
datasets. Successful candidates will bring a research agenda that can take
advantage of the unique intellectual opportunities afforded by NYU, and
will have experience in working with researchers across different fields.
This is a full-time, non-tenure position, with a light teaching load of one
(1) CDS course per year as the primary instructor. You will also be
expected to participate in service activities of the Center for Data
Science (such as helping review admissions applications, committee work,
etc.). Appointments will be for two years. Fellows will be offered a
competitive salary and benefits, with funds to support research and travel.
A start date of September 1, 2024 is planned.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range
for this position is $85,000 - $95,000.

Postdoctoral Position at Stevens in Multiphysics Brain Aging Modeling

Hello everyone.
A postdoctoral position in “Multiphysics Brain Aging Modeling” is available in the group of Prof. Johannes Weickenmeier at Stevens Institute of Technology right outside New York City (www.weickenmeierlab.com<http://www.weickenmeierlab.com/>).
The Soft Matter Biomechanics Lab combines experimental methods to biomechanically characterize brain tissue properties and various computational modeling techniques (e.g. finite element analysis, multiphysics modeling, medical image analysis) with the ultimate goal to better understand healthy brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. Our constitutive aging and Alzheimer’s disease models couple neurobiology and mechanics (i.e. morphological shape changes and tissue loading) in order to identify abnormal aging patterns and brain regions at risk of developing secondary damage, such as white matter hyperintensities, hypoperfusion, traumatic injury, and vascular degeneration. We validate our models against longitudinal imaging data from databases such as the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI).
We are looking for applications with prior experience in advanced medical image analysis, data analysis, and modeling. Knowledge in the biology of aging is a significant advantage.
The research will be performed at the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology right outside of New York. The position is funded through a grant from the NIH.

Postdoctoral Fellow position in Neuronal Circuits implicated in non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease

We are currently looking for a self-driven and enthusiastic postdoctoral
fellow to join our team at the Cajal Institute, which is part of the
Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Spain. Our
research is centered around studying the *malfunctioning of neuronal
circuits in Parkinson's disease*, with a particular focus on understanding
the molecular and circuit disruptions that occur during the development of
Parkinsonian symptoms in an animal model developed at the Dr. Rosario
Moratalla lab.
We are specifically seeking an individual with prior experience in
optogenetics, electrophysiology or calcium imaging on freely moving
animals. While expertise in neurodegenerative diseases is desirable, it is
