The Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University presently offers BSc, MSc, MPhil, and PhD programmes, and is now seeking outstanding applicants for the following positions. *Research Assistant Professor in Computer Science (3 vacancies) (PR0174/22-23)* The positions are created and funded as part of the strategic research development initiatives in the Department. The appointees will be provided with a conducive research environment, and will work within an established group of faculty in the Department. They are also expected to perform group-based high-impact research and undertake some teaching duties. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, and sufficiently demonstrate abilities to conduct high-quality research in one of the Department's key research areas: (i) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; (ii) Big Data and Data Management; (iii) Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition; and (iv) Distributed Systems and Networking. Postdoc (3 years) in computational neuroscience/machine learning at the University of Nottingham (UK)

The Humphries’ lab at the University of Nottingham is seeking a postdoc to join a project developing a precision medicine platform for neuromodulation, in collaboration with MachineMedicine Technologies and St George’s Hospital, London. A crucial unmet need in the management of Parkinson’s disease is how to reliably identify patients that would benefit from deep brain stimulation, the most effective treatment for Parkinson’s. The project team will create a machine-learning platform that synthesises wide-ranging personal and clinical data, combined with neural modelling, to predict the suitability of each Parkinson’s disease patient for deep brain stimulation. An exciting opportunity for the pipeline will be integrating computational models of the neural circuits disrupted in Parkinson’s. The Humphries’ lab researches fundamental insights into how the joint activity of neurons encodes actions in the world and is disrupted in movement disorders (https://www.humphries-lab.org) The post is for 3 years, full-time. Expertise is required in the specific area of systems neuroscience with a focus on identifying the neural correlates of hearing function or dysfunction with an emphasis on identifying the causal relationships between neural activity in individual neurons and/or circuits and learning or behavior.
