Modellers Workshop for the Brain Dynamics Toolbox This online course is for researchers who wish to simulate user-defined dynamical models using the Brain Dynamics Toolbox (bdtoolbox.org<http://bdtoolbox.org>). The toolbox allows the dynamics of any model to be explored interactively with minimal programming effort. Video lectures guide the student through every step of the process with a practical focus on the art of programming differential equations. Topics include Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Delay Differential Equations, Stochastic Differential Equations, Auxiliary Plot Functions and command-line tools. Postdoc at University of Magdeburg, Germany

The University of Magdeburg offers a 3-years postdoc position to study single cell recordings in humans, performed in epileptic patients for curative surgery. The project will investigate concept cells (a.k.a. Jennifer Aniston neurons) – that means, neurons in the hippocampus and surrounding areas that selectively fire to specific concepts, like different pictures and the written or spoken name of a particular person (e.g. Quian Quiroga et al, Nature 2005; Quian Quiroga, Cell 2019), which are involved in declarative memory functions. The candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a research team. Cognitive Neuroscience Research Assistant position at Stanford Cognitive & Systems Neuroscience Lab

This is an exciting opportunity to work on brain imaging studies of cognitive function and dysfunction, cognitive development and learning disabilities. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of research in the lab, including: acquisition and analysis of functional and structural brain imaging data, assembling, administering, and scoring neuropsychological assessments, screening and recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, scheduling participants for testing, tracking progress of the study and behavioral data, verifying data and entering pertinent information into database for statistical analysis, conducting statistical analyses, and assisting with manuscript preparation. Please note many sessions with research participants will take place on the weekends, and occasionally in the evenings. A minimum commitment of two years is required. Qualifications Requires a BS/BA degree in psychology, human biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering or related fields as well as one to two years of research experience. A strong academic record is essential. Past research experience in cognitive neuroscience is highly desirable. Experience with any of the following would be an added advantage: brain imaging data acquisition, MRI data analysis, neuropsychological assessments, computer programming, MATLAB, signal processing, and statistical analysis. The candidate must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with children; a willingness to tackle complex tasks in an independent manner; and a strong work ethic. Candidates must have a PhD and research experience in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, computer science, electrical/biomedical engineering, or related fields. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous research program that contributes to, and complements, ongoing research studies of human brain function and psychopathology. Postdoc available in our interdisciplinary Moral AI group! Description: We have an opening for a joint two-year postdoctoral position at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University and the Social Science Research Institute, Duke Institute for Brain Sciences, and Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University (with the possibility of renewal for a third year). The postdoc can be employed through any of these departments in either University, depending on their preference. The candidate is expected to live in either Pittsburgh or Durham depending on their chosen home department, but will be asked to travel occasionally to the other location. The focus of the position is on conducting impactful research on moral artificial intelligence, addressing problems such as: Designing artificial intelligence systems to model and predict human moral judgments Designing effective elicitation mechanisms and interfaces to capture moral preferences Developing techniques for implementing and evaluating AI systems that are based on these modeled preferences, and assessing the dynamic impact of these systems on the preferences and behavior of users who interact with them Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, mathematics, computational neuroscience, computational cognitive science, or related technical fields and have expertise in Machine Learning and AI / statistics / data science.
