Computational neuroscience graduate/postdoc positions at UMD

The NeuroTheory Lab at University of Maryland (College Park) is recruiting graduate students and postdocs to work at the interface of systems-level neurophysiology and machine learning. The goal of our research is to understand how sensory neurons contribute to perception and behavior. Our premise is that such understanding necessarily involves interpreting large-scale recordings in sufficiently complex (“natural”) experimental contexts. We specialize in statistical modeling, which can directly test hypotheses about neural computations and their mechanistic underpinnings using large-scale neurophysiological recordings, in close collaboration with experimental labs. Doctoral position on causal inference and explainable AI at the University of Vienna

We have an opening for a doctoral position in the Neuroinformatics Group at the University of Vienna (https://ni.cs.univie.ac.at/) The project's goal is to develop causal inference methods that generate human-interpretable concepts for explainable AI. These methods will be applied in close collaboration with other group members to study the link between neuronal activity and cognition in artificial and biological intelligent systems. We are looking for an intrinsically motivated student with a Master (or equivalent) degree in Computer Science, Neural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field. We expect strong competencies in machine learning and programming, as well as a passion for interdisciplinary research in general and learning about the brain in particular.
