The Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University presently offers BSc, MSc, MPhil, and PhD programmes, and is now seeking outstanding applicants for the following positions. *Research Assistant Professor in Computer Science (3 vacancies) (PR0174/22-23)* The positions are created and funded as part of the strategic research development initiatives in the Department. The appointees will be provided with a conducive research environment, and will work within an established group of faculty in the Department. They are also expected to perform group-based high-impact research and undertake some teaching duties. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, and sufficiently demonstrate abilities to conduct high-quality research in one of the Department's key research areas: (i) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; (ii) Big Data and Data Management; (iii) Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition; and (iv) Distributed Systems and Networking. Expertise is required in the specific area of systems neuroscience with a focus on identifying the neural correlates of hearing function or dysfunction with an emphasis on identifying the causal relationships between neural activity in individual neurons and/or circuits and learning or behavior. Particular areas of interest include computational neuroscience and translational approaches. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Teaching responsibilities may include training of graduate students and post-doctoral investigators. Research or scholarship responsibilities may include building an independent research program in basic and/or translational studies in auditory neuroscience. Scholarship should include peer-reviewed publications and presentations of work at scientific meetings and other venues. A fully funded postdoc position is available in the research group of Dr. Gal Mishne at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI) at UC San Diego. Research will be primarily focused on developing models and analysis methods for dynamical networks extracted from cutting-edge 4D lattice light-sheet imaging of brain organoids collected in the Schöneberg lab.
