FENS satellite symposium "Understanding Neural Circuit Evolution" (July 7-8, 2022, Paris and online) The FENS satellite symposium "Understanding Neural Circuit Evolution" will present exciting lines of research into neural circuit evolution from paleobiology to computational neuroscience and to the molecular and genetic generation of neuro-behavioral diversity. Organized by the German Research Foundation Priority Program "Evolutionary Optimization of Neuronal Processing"<https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/618311.html>, the symposium is designed to make the full spectrum of progress in neural circuit evolution accessible to a wide neuroscience audience. The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), located in Bilbao (Spain), is recruiting a Ph.D. student for a 3-year project in Computational Neurobiology within the framework of the H2020 ASTROTECH International Training Network (http://www.astrotechproject.eu/) The student will be based in Bilbao (Spain) and enroll in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Basque Country. They will work under my supervision and that of Christophe Bernard (Aix-Marseille University, France). The project revolves around modeling the neuron-glial-vascular unit, focusing on epilepsy and neurodegeneration and emphasizing clinical technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for ambitious and brilliant candidates to gain expertise in the emerging field of computational modeling of neuron-glial interactions in an exceptional international setting. *Call for community feedback on the Neo object model for electrophysiology and optophysiology data - open until August 14, 2022* INCF is taking a leading role in endorsing and promoting standards and best practices (SBPs) for global neuroscience <https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12021-020-09509-0>, as part of our mission to promote data reuse and reproducibility in brain research. SBP’s are nominated by the community and reviewed by the INCF SBP Committee according to our criteria <https://incf.org/incf-standards-review-criteria-v20> for a FAIR community standard. If they meet our criteria, we put them up for 60 days of community review to gauge the level of user support and to identify possibilities for improvement and potential weaknesses. For the next 60 days (Closing date: August 14, 2022), we are seeking community feedback on whether we should endorse the Neo object model <https://www.incf.org/sbp/neo> as a standard. Neo <https://www.incf.org/sbp/neo> is an object model for handling electrophysiology data in multiple formats. It is suitable for representing data acquired from electroencephalographic, intracellular, or extracellular recordings, or generated from simulations. State of the Art Methods for Brain Data Analysis- A workshop for computational, theoretical and cognitive neuroscientists taking place on July 6 at City— Universıty of London.versıty of London. . This hybrid workshop will discuss the state of the art methods in brain imaging and how they inform our understanding of the neural basis of behaviour and cognition. It will be of interest to computational and cognitive neuroscientists who are keen on brain imaging, computational psychiatry and network-level dynamics. Registration is free. It will also provide updates about how recent developments allow us to map and modulate brain activity and understand how information processing breaks down in disease.
