A computational neuroscience postdoc position is available at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (https://www.nki.rfmh.org) to work on recently awarded grants from NIH (MPI: Schroeder, Bickel, Neymotin) and ARO (PI: Neymotin). The NIH project aims to investigate the brain's dynamic circuit motifs underlying internal vs. external-oriented processes in the auditory system, using a combination of electrophysiology and biophysical circuit modeling of the thalamocortical system. The ARO project involves developing circuit models of the hippocampus interfaced with virtual agents, and training the agents/models to perform spatial navigation tasks using biologically-inspired learning rules. Dear All, the Daun lab at the University of Cologne / the Research Center Juelich in Germany is seeking a Postdoc to join a project on the computational modeling of the neural processes underlying motor control: Your Job: In comparison to sensory, cognitive, or affective-emotional systems, the motor system’s output is directly quantifiable and comparable across species. When studying the neural mechanisms underlying motor control, behavioral readouts across species offer the potential to overcome one grand challenge in neuroscience: bridging the gap between molecular, cellular, and systems levels. Importantly, the motor system is affected in many, if not all, neurological and psychiatric disorders. Hence, a more comprehensive understanding of the motor system will further our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying neurological and psychiatric disorders. Likewise, neuropsychiatric diseases allow novel insights into the motor system’s (dys-)function and testing models of motor control. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative research center (CRC1451; https://www.crc1451.uni-koeln.de)<https://www.crc1451.uni-koeln.de),/> located at the University of Cologne that brings together neuroscientists investigating neural processes underlying motor control on these different levels in animals and humans, in both health and neuropsychiatric diseases. *Postdoctoral Fellowships inAcquisition, processing and quantitative analysis of neurobiological data* The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (NeuroMat), hosted by the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, and funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), is offering two post-doctoral fellowships for recent PhDs with outstanding research potential. The fellowship will involve collaborations with research teams and laboratories associated with NeuroMat. The research to be developed by the post-doc fellow shall be strictly related to ongoing research lines developed by the NeuroMat team. The project may be developed at USP (São Paulo or Ribeirão Preto) or at UNICAMP (Campinas). We seek candidates capable of developing independent research in one of the research lines below: 1. Stochastic modeling of neurobiological data. 2. Acquisition, processing and quantitative analysis of electrophysiological data. 3. Development of neurostimulation protocols. Candidates to the first research line are required to have a strong background in probability theory with an emphasis on stochastic processes. Candidates to the second research line are required to have a strong background in neuroscience with previous experience in neurophysiological data acquisition, processing and analysis, and knowledge of computer programming.
