Dear Colleagues, We are happy to announce that registration is now open for the 1st conference of the Italian Network for Computational Neuroscience (INCN '24) to be held in Rome at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Italian National Institute of Health, ISS) from September 23rd to 25th, 2024. INCN conference aims to establish a collaborative network for Italian computational and theoretical neuroscientists. Inspired by successful initiatives in Europe, it seeks to leverage national research efforts to create a thriving research environment, fostering collaboration, information exchange, and scientific advancement for both young researchers and the broader neuroscience community. Our research seeks to understand how neural information processing under noisy and resource-constrained conditions allows the brain to efficiently perform computational tasks and control relevant behaviors. *This position <https://biology.ucsd.edu/jobs/postdoc#Computational/Theoretical-Neuro>* will involve the analysis of neural activity data (calcium imaging or electrophysiology) collected by our collaborators, as well as theoretical modeling of learning and task performance in neural networks. *Our research group <https://bennalab.biosci.ucsd.edu/people/>* is part of the vibrant Department of Neurobiology at UCSD, which is highly collegial, and offers many opportunities for collaborations, both formal and informal. Postdoctoral trainees are encouraged to attend seminars and present their work at departmental events. Our group is located in Tata Hall and shares space with several experimental neuroscience laboratories. We offer a stimulating environment with opportunities to develop new research directions and supportive mentorship for individual career development. ICICIP2025 aims to provide a high-level international forum for scientists, engineers, and educators to present the state of the art of research and applications in related fields. The research will be conducted in the uOttawa Bioscience Complex, a teaching and research hub hosting dozens of state-of-the-art experimental and computational interdisciplinary research facilities in downtown Ottawa, Canada. Successful candidates will be immersed in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with access to many additional training and networking activities, and be associated with Centre for Neural Dynamics, the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Biology, the uOttawa Brain and Mind Institute as well as the Krembil Brain Institute. Details Start dates: as early as September 1st 2024. Position Description: Trainees will be expected to work in-person for most of the position. Trainees will be expected to participate in the lab's scholarly activities (i.e., workshops, meetings), and to support other lab member's work whenever applicable.
