Expertise is required in the specific area of systems neuroscience with a focus on identifying the neural correlates of hearing function or dysfunction with an emphasis on identifying the causal relationships between neural activity in individual neurons and/or circuits and learning or behavior. Particular areas of interest include computational neuroscience and translational approaches. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Teaching responsibilities may include training of graduate students and post-doctoral investigators. Research or scholarship responsibilities may include building an independent research program in basic and/or translational studies in auditory neuroscience. Scholarship should include peer-reviewed publications and presentations of work at scientific meetings and other venues. Enrolments for the Modeller’s Workshop for the Brain Dynamics Toolbox are now open. Master the art of programming dynamical systems in Matlab using the Brain Dynamics Toolbox. This online course is for researchers, students and instructors who wish to build their own models. Each step is explained in a short video lecture with a practical focus on programming techniques. Topics include Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs), Delay Differential Equations (DDEs), Stochastic Differential Equations (SDEs), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), model-specific plotting functions and command-line tools. Example code is provided in all cases. Study time is 8 hours. An ERC-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Cossart lab at the Mediterranean Institute of Neurobiology (INSERM, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France) to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and friendly environment (by the Calanques). The Cossart lab aims at understanding memory circuits in the brain and describing how they develop in health and disease. To this aim, we use cutting-edge optical, computational, and data analysis methods. The candidate will apply their skills to extract information from our datasets, build computational models to make predictions, and work in close collaboration with experimentalists. The candidate will be co-supervised by Dr. Lorenzo Fontolan, a computational neuroscientist who recently started his research group at Inmed. Starting date fall/winter 2023.
