A fully funded postdoc position is available in the research group of Dr. Gal Mishne at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI) at UC San Diego. We are happy to announce that the next conference on “Criticality in Neural Systems 2022: Collective Behavior, Synchronization, and Complexity” will take place at the Porter Neuroscience Research Center (National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) from Nov. 7 – 9th, 2022 (shortly before the SFN Meeting, San Diego) The conference will be held in a hybrid format, both in presence at NIH Bethesda and via Zoom. *Postdoctoral Fellowships inAcquisition, processing and quantitative analysis of neurobiological data* The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (NeuroMat), hosted by the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, and funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), is offering two post-doctoral fellowships for recent PhDs with outstanding research potential. The fellowship will involve collaborations with research teams and laboratories associated with NeuroMat. The research to be developed by the post-doc fellow shall be strictly related to ongoing research lines developed by the NeuroMat team. The project may be developed at USP (São Paulo or Ribeirão Preto) or at UNICAMP (Campinas). We seek candidates capable of developing independent research in one of the research lines below: 1. Stochastic modeling of neurobiological data. 2. Acquisition, processing and quantitative analysis of electrophysiological data. 3. Development of neurostimulation protocols. Candidates to the first research line are required to have a strong background in probability theory with an emphasis on stochastic processes. Candidates to the second research line are required to have a strong background in neuroscience with previous experience in neurophysiological data acquisition, processing and analysis, and knowledge of computer programming. At the institute we use a diverse set of methods to study the information processing principles underlying intelligent behavior in cognitive systems, including both biological and artificial systems. In particular, we are interested in systems that learn in open-ended environments and that use abstraction to solve novel problems through generalization and meta-learning. Dear Colleagues, The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of Communication invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor with an emphasis on developing and/or applying computational social science methods to study communication. Potential areas of research include (but are by no means limited to) agent-based or other computational modeling, network science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, analysis of large audio and/or video datasets, gathering and analysis of digital trace data, and the use of virtual lab or field experiments.
