Since the first edition, LAWCN has contributed to revealing knowledge about the brain in an enthusiastic atmosphere for sharing ideas, creating networks, and fostering collaboration among Latin countries and the world. The current edition is organized by the research group "Grupo de Investigación Tecnologías Emergentes Sostenibles e Inteligentes GITESI" from the Engineering Faculty of the Institution University of Envigado (IUE), in collaboration with the Colegio Colombiano de Neurociencias (COLNE), the most representative association of neuroscience researchers and students in Colombia. The workshop will take place in the city of Envigado (Antioquia - Colombia) from November 28 to 30, 2023. This is the first LAWCN edition outside of Brazil, expanding its presence to Latin America, seeking to enhance the collaboration network among the countries of our region but keeping the worldwide approach. Envigado is in the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley, close to Medellín, the second-largest city in Colombia, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. Envigado is known for maintaining the traditions of the Paisa Region and for its architecture. It also has one of the highest standards of living in Colombia. Envigado was recognized recently as one of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (UNESCO GNLC). In keeping with the tradition of the previous edition of this meeting, the IV LAWCN has four main topics: A- Computational Neuroscience B- Neuroscience C- Neuroengineering D- Artificial intelligence and related topics. Prospective authors are invited to contribute to the conference by electronically submitting papers in English, Portuguese, or Spanish, according to the model found on the event website. The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is a research institution with a Ph.D. program. Outstanding graduate students and faculty are being attracted internationally. OIST is beautifully situated on the tropical island of Okinawa, Japan. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and be independent researchers, i.e., should have an academic standing equivalent to senior postdoc, junior group leader, or faculty member at a research-intensive institution. Dear all, We have funds for a two-year postdoc on Dravet syndrome modeling. The postdoc will perform a mathematical analysis of the models, extensive numerical simulations as well as data analysis using neural recordings from our experimental partners. Postdoctoral position in Human Psychophysics for understanding vision with/without Neuroimaging (m/f/d) (TVöD Bund E13, 100%) The Department of Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems (PI Prof. Li Zhaoping) at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and at the University of Tübingen is currently looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work on projects aimed towards understanding visual attentional and perceptual processes using fMRI/MRI, TMS, EEG/MEG, and other relevant methodologies. We are particularly interested in the broad area of Computational Biology, including, but not limited to, AI and ML applications to biology, computation-enhanced imaging, modeling of biological networks, genomic sciences, quantitative ecology and epidemiology. The new hires will be a part of a university-wide initiative in Interdisciplinary and Computational Sciences. The positions will be joint between the Department of Biology and Department of Computer Science in the Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences, or the Department of Biology and Center for Data Science. The new hires will participate in the research and teaching mission of both the Department of Biology, and of the Department of Computer Science or the Center for Data Science. This search is for the tenure-track, Assistant Professor, position. Candidates are expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program.
