The workshop will take place in the city of Envigado (Antioquia - Colombia) from November 28 to 30, 2023. This is the first LAWCN edition outside of Brazil, expanding its presence to Latin America, seeking to enhance the collaboration network among the countries of our region but keeping the worldwide approach. Envigado is in the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley, close to Medellín, the second-largest city in Colombia, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. Envigado is known for maintaining the traditions of the Paisa Region and for its architecture. It also has one of the highest standards of living in Colombia. Envigado was recognized recently as one of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (UNESCO GNLC). The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is a research institution with a Ph.D. program. Outstanding graduate students and faculty are being attracted internationally. OIST is beautifully situated on the tropical island of Okinawa, Japan. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and be independent researchers, i.e., should have an academic standing equivalent to senior postdoc, junior group leader, or faculty member at a research-intensive institution. The position has a flexible term of 1 to 12 months taken continuously starting between October 2021 and March 2022 with a preference for longer-term visitors. Dear all, We have funds for a two-year postdoc on Dravet syndrome modeling. The postdoc will be based at Inria, in Montpellier. The aim of the project is to develop a multiscale model of Dravet syndrome, from ionic channels of interacting neurons to large neural populations. We will use various modeling frameworks, adapted to the scale, from piecewise-deterministic Markov processes to mean-field formalism. The postdoc will perform a mathematical analysis of the models, extensive numerical simulations as well as data analysis using neural recordings from our experimental partners. Postdoctoral position in Human Psychophysics for understanding vision with/without Neuroimaging (m/f/d) (TVöD Bund E13, 100%) The Department of Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems (PI Prof. Li Zhaoping) at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and at the University of Tübingen is currently looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work on projects aimed towards understanding visual attentional and perceptual processes using fMRI/MRI, TMS, EEG/MEG, and other relevant methodologies. The postdoc will be working closely with the principal investigator and other members of Zhaoping's team when needed. Responsibilities: * Conduct and participate in research projects such as lab and equipment set up, data collection, data analysis, writing reports and papers, and presenting at scientific conferences * Participate in routine laboratory operations, such as planning and preparations for experiments, lab maintenance and lab procedures * Coordinate with the PI and other team members for strategies and project planning * Coordinate with the PI and other team members for project planning, and in supervision of student projects or teaching assistance for university courses in our field Requirements: * Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, physics or a related natural science or engineering field * Publications in peer-reviewed journals * Highly skilled in techniques of human visual psychophysics such as MATLAB programming for experiments, experimental data taking, data analysis, and paper writing * Familiarity with hardware and techniques in eye tracking, fMRI/MRI, EEG, MEG, TMS, tDCS/tACS, and other related techniques such as in carrying out fMRI experiments is highly desirable * Experience in project management is highly desired * Strong command of English; knowledge of German is a plus Who we are: We use a multidisciplinary approach to investigate sensory and sensory-motor transforms in the brain <https://www.lizhaoping.org/> (www.lizhaoping.org). One part of our group is located in the University, in the Centre for Integrative Neurosciences (CIN), and the other part is in the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics as the Department for Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems.
