Explainable AI: Overcoming problems of Deep Learning problems with Adaptive Resonance
Dear Colleagues, There's currently a lot of interest in AI, notably Deep Learning, and in achieving autonomous adaptive intelligence. The following new article summarizes foundational problems of reliability and trustworthiness of Deep Learning, explains how Adaptive Resonance overcomes them, and outlines a blueprint for achieving autonomous adaptive intelligence: Grossberg, S. (2020). A path towards Explainable AI and autonomous adaptive intelligence: Deep Learning, Adaptive Resonance, and models of perception, emotion, and action. Dear Comp-Neuro colleagues, I am happy to report that my Magnum Opus Conscious Mind, Resonant Brain: How Each Brain Makes a Mind https://lnkd.in/ePfN_K85 # has won the 2022 PROSE award in Neuroscience from the Association of American Publishers <https://www.amazon.com/Conscious-Mind-Resonant-Brain-Makes/dp/0190070552> [cid:fa0c5a71-4275-43da-b80b-d48a7e24fd4b] <https://www.amazon.com/Conscious-Mind-Resonant-Brain-Makes/dp/0190070552> Best, Steve Grossberg
Dear Comp-Neuro Colleagues, I just enjoyed a wide-ranging conversation about my work on Roi Yozevitch’s podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwqFmmhBbqA&t=49s Among other topics, we discussed my recently published Magnum Opus: Conscious Mind, Resonant Brain: How Each Brain Makes a Mind https://www.amazon.com/Conscious-Mind-Resonant-Brain-Makes/dp/0190070552 https://global.oup.com/academic/product/conscious-mind-resonant-brain-9780190070557?cc=us&lang=en& Best, Steve Grossberg sites.bu.edu/steveg
Dear Colleagues, I have published a new article about the brain dynamics of music: Grossberg, S. (2022). Towards understanding the brain dynamics of music: Learning and conscious performance of lyrics and melodies with variable rhythms and beats. Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience, April 8, 2022. https://doi.org/10.3389/fnsys.2022.766239 This article shows how neural models that I recently published in my Magnum Opus can help to understand music and its links to other brain processes: Grossberg, S.
