Call for Abstracts: SMILES 2025 Workshop @ICDL (Prague, Sept 16)

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce the SMILES 2025 Workshop (Sensorimotor Interaction, Language and Embodiment of Symbols), which will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, as part of the ICDL 2025 Conference in Prague, Czech Republic. Workshop website: https://sites.google.com/view/smiles-workshop/ ICDL 2025 conference site: https://icdl2025.fel.cvut.cz/ 📢 Call for Abstracts We invite contributions exploring the connection between sensorimotor interaction, symbolic communication, and language emergence. Interdisciplinary approaches are welcome. Deadline: August 31, 2025 Length: ½ page to 2 pages Format: IEEE conference template https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html Submission email: smiles.conf@gmail.com Please indicate if you plan to present onsite or remotely. 🧠Workshop Focus SMILES addresses the gap between low-level sensorimotor interaction and high-level symbolic communication, bringing together researchers working on: Sensorimotor learning and developmental robotics Emergent communication in multi-agent systems Gesture and sequence chunking (motor, vocal, multimodal) Symbol grounding and symbol emergence Compositional and hierarchical representations for action and language Language acquisition and processing in humans and machines Temporal dynamics in neural network models Enaction, perception-action loops, and active sensing Animal communication and comparative models Organizers: Xavier Hinaut, Laura Cohen, Alex Pitti Contact: smiles.conf@gmail.com Invited speakers: To be announced soon Workshop date: September 16, 2025, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM Location: Prague, Czech Republic We look forward to your contributions!
