Computational neuroscience graduate/postdoc positions at UMD
The NeuroTheory Lab at University of Maryland (College Park) is recruiting graduate students and postdocs to work at the interface of systems-level neurophysiology and machine learning. The goal of our research is to understand how sensory neurons contribute to perception and behavior. Our premise is that such understanding necessarily involves interpreting large-scale recordings in sufficiently complex (“natural”) experimental contexts. We specialize in statistical modeling, which can directly test hypotheses about neural computations and their mechanistic underpinnings using large-scale neurophysiological recordings, in close collaboration with experimental labs. Applicants must also have working knowledge of systems/computational neuroscience, and be interested in pursuing this field. We encourage applications from members of under-represented groups. Our lab is set in the Biology Department in the spacious College Park campus in suburban Washington DC (accessible by metro), and also nearby to several collaborators at NIH.
