Job Description: The Department of Biology at Saint Michael's College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for an assistant professor of biology starting in the 2014-2015 academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the team teaching of introductory biology and to teach upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of human anatomy and physiology thus enhancing the department's offerings for students interested in post-graduate opportunities in health care. Advising students pursuing careers in the health professions will become part of this new faculty member's role. The successful candidate must also maintain a productive scholarship program focusing on research at the organismal level providing opportunities for student involvement. For example, focus areas of scholarship could include, but are not limited to the following (listed in alphabetical order, not in order of preference): anatomy, biomechanics, developmental biology, embryology, kinesiology, functional morphology, neurobiology, physiology, or vertebrate evolution. Please note however that the Biology Department does not have facilities to maintain live mammals. Research programs strictly at the population or cell and molecular levels are not compatible with this position.
