Brandeis University invited applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in theoretical/computational neuroscience. The successful applicant will be expected to work on a project related to the current research interests of faculty associated with the Sloan-Swartz Center for Theoretical Neuroscience at Brandeis (see http://www.bio.brandeis.edu/sloan/ and http://www.bio.brandeis.edu/faculty/list_programNeuro.html). Example research areas include: Decision making; Short-term memory; Robustness and stability of small circuits; Cellular mechanisms of homeostasis; Attractor-state computing; Plasticity and development of cortical circuits. Candidates should have a Ph. D. in one of the Physical Sciences or Neuroscience, a demonstrated ability in scientific computation, a solid foundation in calculus and differential equations, and a strong interest in neuroscience. Prior training and experience in neuroscience is desirable, though we accept those candidates new to the field who are willing to commit to the intense and extensive training available here. Brandeis has a small, but strong neuroscience program (4 National Academy members) with significant expertise in systems neuroscience. Brandeis is located in Eastern Massachusetts, about 8 miles from Boston/Cambridge.
