Fully funded Postdoctoral researcher position for ML/AI-based intelligent process monitoring https://www.rug.nl/about-ug/work-with-us/job-opportunities/?details=00347-02... Closing date = 15-09-2025 We offer a postdoctoral researcher position in cooperation with Philips and the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. The position is funded by the PPS-I Flex High Tech project “ManufActuring contRol Sonicare (MARS)“. Due to the complexity of the assembly process anomalies can occur, that lead to unplanned downtime and sub-optimal production outcomes. Deviations from normal behavior have diverse causes, ranging from misplacement, heterogeneity in material, to fatigue. Locating such issues in the production line can be difficult and the creation of more intelligent process control strategies and innovative methods of tracking reliability can be achieved with expert informed machine learning techniques, which offer more insight into possible sources of variation, facilitating more proactive quality control. The successful applicant has: - a PhD degree in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering or other relevant fields. - a keen interest in at least one of the following topics: machine learning, dynamic systems, applied mathematics (system identification and/or structural identifiability), Bayesian methods - proficiency in English (knowledge of the Dutch language is not required). Supervisors: Prof. Kerstin Bunte and Prof. Jan Post Deadline: 15 September 2025 Start Date: 1 Jan 2026 ✅ Either full-time (1.0FTE) for 21 months, or 0.88FTE for 24 months under Dutch university agreement ✅ Gross salary: €4,060 ✅ Focus: Expert informed ML + AI modelling for advanced production process monitoring ✅ Strong interdisciplinary team: Engineering, AI, and ML ✅ Involvement with APE & Intelligent Systems groups ✅ International students welcome (English proficiency required) 💡 This is a great opportunity to work on advanced machine learning with real industrial relevance (anomaly detection, process monitoring, optimization, and more).
