Reconstruction and simulation of neural circuits in the brain We invite applications for a post-doc researcher in the areas of 3D image processing, computational neuroscience, and/or neurophysiology. A new collaborative project with U Tokyo has been launched for large-scale 3D imaging of neural networks and their reconstruction/simulation. Thus, the applicant will firstly analyze microscopic 3D images to identify biological neuronal networks in collaboration with Kasai-lab in U Tokyo (http://www.bm2.m.u-tokyo.ac.jp/english/index.html). The project is a part of “Synaptic optogenetics for memory structures”, which is founded by Japan Science and Technology Agency. 2. AI and brain simulation We are seeking a highly motivated post-doc researcher in artificial intelligence (including deep neural networks), brain simulation, and/or high performance computing (HPC). Join us in the "post peta-flops computing" project, a government funded project with the goal of using the K supercomputer and its successor to (1) develop HPC-based frameworks for large-scale neural image processing and to (2) build an innovative and large-scale artificial intelligence that mimics brain’s information processing. For both positions, basic qualifications include PhD in relevant fields with proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and/or Japanese. You will participate in the project with our tenure track and post-doc researchers from various backgrounds including computational neuroscience, systems biology, bioinformatics, mathematical engineering, and machine learning. Our laboratory is also collaborating on daily basis with Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), University of Tokyo, Okinawa institute of science and technology (OIST), RIKEN Brain Science Institute, and other international laboratories.
