Dear All,

I am seeking a candidate interested in applying for an FPU-UPC PhD fellowship (see last year's call for reference here) to work on computational neuroscience. The project can be oriented either toward:

  1. Single-neuron biophysical modeling: ion-channel dynamics, dendritic and axonal morphology, calcium-dependent plasticity, and large-scale simulations of human and mouse neurons.

  2. NeuroAI: biologically inspired machine-learning models using realistic neuronal network architecture constraints (see: https://biocomsc.upc.edu/en/tfg-and-tfm-with-us/projects/tfe_neuroia_2025-1.pdf).

Candidates should have solid skills in Python and ideally computational neuroscience modeling (NEURON, Arbor, etc.) or AI background (e.g., PyTorch) and a strong motivation for either direction.

Interested applicants should send a CV + brief statement of interest.
Application deadline (early April 2026). Some time may be necessary to arrange documentation and get preliminary acceptance in the PhD program.
Start date (October 2026).

With best regards,

Linus
