N° 1 Postdoc position in Psychology/Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience available at the University of Padova, Department of Developmental and Social Psychology and Padova Neuroscience Center

The CoLab (Area: Social and Affective Neuroscience, PI: Paola Sessa, see here) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral researcher position funded by the Padova Neuroscience Center (http://pnc.unipd.it), to begin in January 2020. We are seeking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the group led by Dr. Sessa who is embarking on a new line of research in collaboration with Dr. Nao Tsuchiya (Monash University) and Dr. Samir Suweis (University of Padova) on the relationship between network connectivity and conscious processing of others’ emotions, with an additional focus on alexithymic traits. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting research with a high density EEG system (256 channels) within this new line of research.

Qualifications/Requirements: Qualified applicants must have a PhD (or be in the process of completing their PhD) in neuroscience (affective or cognitive), psychology, bioengineering or related disciplines. They must have a solid expertise in conducting EEG studies and a publication record of research papers that includes neuroimaging studies. The ideal candidate should also have strong technical skills, including competence in task implementation, pre-processing, and analysis of EEG data (involving functional connectivity and graph analysis). Experience working with sub-clinical/clinical populations (individuals with alexithymia or alexithymic traits) is preferred but not a prerequisite.

Starting date, duration and salary: This is a two-year position and expected to start in January 2020; 24.400 euros/gross per year.

In this phase please directly contact Dr. Sessa (paola.sessa@unipd.it) with a statement of interest (maximum: 1 page), a CV, and 1 or 2 letters of reference by October 31st.
