CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
CITEC Summer School 2016 on Adaptive Systems
CITEC, Bielefeld University, Germany, 27th-30th of
September 2016
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear young researchers,
The CITEC Summer School 2016 is dedicated to the topic of
Adaptive Systems: https://www.cit-ec.de/summerschool
Adaptivity is the key for coping with tasks or environments
whose properties cannot be completely known beforehand - a
frequent characteristic of real world situations challenging
artificial agents, real robots or biological organisms alike.
We offer you an interdisciplary mesh of courses held by an
interdisciplinary team of researchers from the Excellence
Center Cognitive Interaction Technology to acquaint you with
current ideas and research about adaptivity, its foundations,
analysis and its synthesis in artificial systems.
This year's topic is organized into four major thematic
areas:
(A) Adaptive Motion
(B) Multimodal Learning and Social Interaction
(C) Deep Approaches to Relevance Learning
(D) Embodiment and Neuromorpic Learning Systems
Most of the courses provide the opportunity for hands-on
experience, involving experiments or data sets captured in
CITEC research labs. You are asked to choose one out of this
four. They are complemented by talks of leading invited and
local experts.
Invited speakers include:
-
Ralph Etienne-Cummings,
Johns Hopkins University, USA
-
Kerstin Fischer, University
of Southern Denmark
-
Christian Igel, University of
Copenhagen, Denmark
-
Andrew B. Schwartz, University of
Pittsburgh, USA
Beyond the courses and the talks of the speakers, attendance
will provide you with ample opportunities for discussions,
exchange of ideas with your peers and the participating
researchers, and for learning more about CITEC.
The Summer School continues a series of highly successful
CITEC Summer Schools started in 2010 and covering the topics
of The Structure of Cognitive Motion:
From Analysis to Synthesis
(2010), Mechanisms of
Attention - From Experimental Studies to Technical Systems
(2011), Verbal and Non-verbal Interaction: From
Experiments to Implementation (2012), and Continuous
Learning in Living and Artificial Systems (2013) so
far.
To apply visit https://www.cit-ec.de/summerschool/application
