A two year Postdoctoral position is available immediately to study the changes in synaptic and membrane properties in brainstem sensory neurons, interneurons and motoneurons in a mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We use methods that include electrophysiology, pharmacology, molecular biology and computational modeling to understand the mechanisms underlying the disease process. The successful applicant should have a solid background and publication record in using brain slice patch-clamp methodology and/or Computational Neuroscience and be willing to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Expertise in systems biology approaches is also desirable.
