Several Army Research Office (ARO) undergraduate research apprenticeship program (URAP) positions are available for the summer of 2022 at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (https://www.nki.rfmh.org/). Research will be conducted to help achieve the goals of an ARO grant that aims to train neocortical circuit models to play video games using biologically-plausible learning rules, and to compare model performance against commonly used deep reinforcement learning algorithms. 


Students will have the opportunity to learn cutting edge methods in computational neuroscience, machine learning, and Python software development, and publish their results. Several manuscripts under review, that included previous URAP students are available on Biorxiv here:

Candidates will be considered based on their experience in computational neuroscience, machine learning, and Python programming. Candidates in the NYC metropolitan area will be preferred.
