Dr. Aaron Milstein, Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, is seeking a postdoc to join his computational neuroscience lab at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. Projects in the lab focus on understanding a newly discovered form of synaptic plasticity that depends on dendritic spikes called behavioral timescale synaptic plasticity (BTSP). We hypothesize that this plasticity mechanism is involved in coordinating supervised learning across multiple brain regions.

Ideal candidate:
– Interested in bio-inspired neural networks and/or neural circuits
– Enjoy learning and tackling difficult research questions
– Completed (or close to completing) a PhD
– Have research experience in a relevant topic (e.g. Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Bioengineering, etc.).

What we offer:
– A supportive work environment in a fun international team with room to develop your own project
– The option to collaborate with other world-class neuroscience and engineering labs at Rutgers and beyond
– Opportunities to travel to national and international conferences
– Healthcare coverage
– Salary in line with the NIH payscale (based on years of experience)
