We are recruiting a talented postdoctoral researcher or PhD student to participate in the project BRAINCIP, “Brain-wide criticality and Information processing”. The project lies at the interface of physics and neuroscience, and aims to test key assumptions of the critical brain hypothesis by investigating in vivo the role of brain-wide critical neural dynamics in information processing and complex brain functions in the Zebrafish. To this end, state-of-the-art experimental techniques to follow and finely perturb brain dynamics will be combined with theoretical and computational approaches to large scale data analysis and modeling.
The ideal candidate will have a quantitative background—e.g. PhD/Master in mathematics, physics, computer science—, and strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++, Matlab), along with (preferable but not mandatory) experience in applying this background to neuroscience. Experience with data analysis is a plus, but it is not mandatory.
The post doc will join the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Padova Neuroscience Center and live in highly active and stimulating interdisciplinary environment at the University of Padova, one of the most prestigious universities in Italy. The position is open immediately with primary location in Padova, a nice small university town near Venice. Ideally, the starting date is between February-June 2023.
Interested candidates should contact
Dr. Fabrizio Lombardi (fabrizio.lombardi@ist.ac.at) and
Prof. Marco Dal Maschio (marco.dalmaschio@unipd.it).
Please include BRAINCIP and the position you are applying for (PhD or Postdoc) in the email subject.
