Data scientist position in the Mrsic-Flogel lab
The Mrsic-Flogel lab is seeking a highly motivated data scientist. The main focus of our research is to understand the visual cortex.
The primary responsibilities for this position will be to design data analysis packages for processing large data sets. Our lab uses two-photon imaging of individual neurons, wide field imaging of the entire cortex, and electrophysiology to understand how neural activity relates to sensory perception and behavior. The successful candidate should have extensive experience working with large data sets, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to work both independently and within a team, and have a degree in physical or biological sciences (or several years of work experience). Experience with imaging data, and familiarity with sophisticated analysis techniques (e.g. dynamic causality modelling, machine learning, etc.) are ideal. Familiarity with MATLAB and/or LABVIEW a plus.
Applications (in electronic form), including CV, a brief description of previous research experience/software projects, and contact information of two references should be addressed to Tom Mrsic-Flogel, Biozentrum, University of Basel, Klingelbergstrasse 70, 4056 Basel, Switzerland (mrsic-flogel@googlegroups.com).
Additional info
Full-time position, starting immediately or upon agreement. The position is initially for 1-2 years. Salary and benefits according to University of Basel standards.
