A NIH-supported postdoctoral position is available immediately for studying the processing of color information in primate cortex, and applying optogentics to visual prosthesis. The projects is under the direction of Dr. Youping Xiao at State University of New York - Downstate Medical Center, New York, New York.
We employ a multidisciplinary approach, including optical imaging of intrinsic signal and voltage-sensitive dye, multi-channel single-unit recording, optogentics, neuroanatomy, advanced statistical analysis, and modeling. Our current research focuses on the population based representation of color or other information, functional connectivity between neurons, neural circuitry for color perception, and the development of cortical visual prosthesis using optogenetics.
